Learning Specialist: Push-In Program
Jack M. Barrack’s push-in program guides students to gain an understanding about how they best learn and to discover and develop the strategies and techniques to become independent learners. The learning specialist facilitates both learning in and out of the classroom: pushing into Core (language arts and social studies), science, and possibly Jewish studies classes to help students organize, focus and use time efficiently and works with the students in a small group outside the classroom on study, organizational, reading comprehension, writing, and executive functioning skills. Instruction is customized to best meet the needs of each student.
Qualified candidates should be experienced in teaching executive functioning and metacognitive skills through multi-sensory techniques and have a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate current practices in education. The learning specialist will be expected to assist in creating classroom accommodations and modifications based on assessments and formal psycho-educational testing for students with learning differences. Interested candidates must have the ability to collaborate with colleagues and foster a growth mindset for each of their students. Developing an inclusive environment where students feel safe to take risks in their learning is a central value for the Barrack academic program. A degree in special education or a related subject area is required.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Work with students individually and in small groups, providing support in the areas of executive functioning, reading, writing, and study skills

Provide push-in support to students in Core (language art and social studies), science, and possibly Jewish studies classes

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and caring educator to serve as a Middle School and High School Art teacher and advisor for the 2023-2024 school year. The Resource Program at Barrack guides students to gain an understanding about how to best learn and to discover the strategies and techniques to become independent learners. Each group is customized to best meet the needs of each student.

Barrack is situated on an idyllic, 35-acre wooded campus, ideally suited for a variety of athletic activities. Our campus includes a newly resurfaced state of the art astroturf multi-purpose field, a beautiful field house that is poised for expansion, tennis courts, and multiple walking trails.
Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy seeks a student-centered and proven leader to become its Athletic Director beginning July 2023. The Director is responsible for the overall athletic program, which includes visioning, management, scheduling, and daily operations, while also leading a talented group of coaches, partnering with a dedicated group of families, and supporting an outstanding group of student-athletes. The Athletic Director also serves as the department chair of our health and physical education program, envisioning and overseeing curriculum, courses, activities, and the faculty members of the department.
The Athletic Director collaborates and partners with the senior leadership team of the school, including the Head of School, as well as academic and non-academic departments within the school community.
The ideal candidate will be able to lead a robust program with a rich athletic tradition and history, inspire continued participation and growth of our program to the benefit of our students and community while listening and communicating effectively across constituencies. Some of the characteristics the successful candidate will possess include a strong work ethic, a sense of humor, the ability to manage short and long-term projects, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a large organization, a high level of emotional intelligence, the ability to think strategically and creatively, and an understanding and respect for the commitments of student-athletes within a rigorous academic setting.
Primary responsibilities of the Athletic Director position include but may not be limited to:

Envision and lead the athletic program while collaborating and partnering with senior leadership of the school

Provide leadership, supervision, evaluation, and coordination of the middle school and upper school athletic programs

Manage all varsity, junior varsity, and middle school sports, including team rosters, calendaring, schedules, uniforms, and other relevant activities

Recruit, hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate an outstanding coaching staff across all sports
-
Oversee and work with facilities and operations teams to ensure all athletic facilities and fields are in excellent condition
-
With support and oversight from Business Office, create and manage budget for the athletic program
-
Coordinate transportation for away games and any off-campus practices
-
Coordinate on-site facility rentals as well as secure outside rentals of fields and/or facilities for athletic teams

Serve as a representative of the school and the face of the athletic program at any league meetings, games, Open House events, alumni gatherings, or similar programs

Serve as the department chair for the Health/Physical Education Department, including oversight of the program and curriculum and supervision of two full-time faculty members

Teach Health/Physical Education courses or other relevant topics as needed

Middle School Boys Head Soccer Coach
Practices and games are held three days per week, Monday through Thursday; practice is held from 3:45pm-5:30pm, and games will be played after school at 3:45pm.

Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy is seeking a Part-Time Athletic Trainer to work with our student-athletes during practices and games. The Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Director of Athletics and will be responsible for evaluating, treating, and preventing athletic injuries. They will work closely with coaches, parents, and medical professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of our student-athletes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide preventative and rehabilitative care to student-athletes
