Varsity Track recap

We had our final track meet prior to the Championship meet and the athletes all had tremendous performances.

We started the meet with 7th graders Nina Berkowitz and Pearl Victor running hurdle times that potentially qualified them for the Championship meet.

The next race saw 7th grader Lia Dolev and Pearl Victor finish the 100M 4th and 5th respectively in a field of 25 made up of 10th to 12th graders.

Jessie Singer, also a 7th grader, then ran a season best 1600M not only breaking her own school record but placing her in the top two runners in the league for this event.

Michael Kalman and also ran a season best in his 1600M race and potentially qualified himself for the Championship meet.  Additionally in this race Moriel Ben-Abou lowered his time significantly and just missed the provisional qualifying standard.

The four girls then came back to run a 4x100 relay in school record time despite getting interfered with and tripped.

Jory Hirshman then ran the 300M hurdles for the first time and potentially qualified for the Championship meet with his run.  He also broke an old school record with this run.

Jessie then finished the school record runs with a 3200M time that placed her firmly as the number two seed in the league

In the field events, Alexander Garber threw a person best in the shot put while Zach Lipstein, who already qualified himself for the Championship meet in the 100M and long jump, won the triple jump and also qualified himself in this event.

As a team, the girls did so well that our school had one of our highest finishes and point totals, ending up with 45 points and in 4th out of 7 schools.
