Barrack vs. PJL Championship

Away game at Solebury School Get Directions

The Barrack track and field team had a strong showing at yesterday's Penn-Jersey League Championship. On the girls' side, Zoe Patent won her heat of the 100 meters, and the girls 4x100m relay beat its previous season best by almost 3 seconds. For the boys, the tone was set by senior Shai Greer, who won both the 1600m and 800m races. Other individual medals for the boys included Michael Leshem, who took second in the 1600m, and Ari Cooper, who finished third in the 400m race. The boys also brought home new season bests and third-place finishes in both the 4x100 relay (good work, Avi Lurie, Michael Miller, Ari Cooper and Zach Lipstein!) and the 4x400, in which seniors Avi Lurie and Shai Greer, complemented by Ari Cooper and Ethan Savitch, gave very strong efforts to close out their track running careers. Medals aside, nearly every member of the team who competed set a new personal best or ran something very close to it: Mike Leshem, Ethan Savitch and Jake Gordon all set personal records in the 1600m, with Mike and Ethan returning to repeat the feat in the 800m. Personal bests also came for Zach Lipstein in the 100m and Oren Gabbay in the 400m, and for Ari Cooper in both of those events. With thrilling races and hard efforts all around, it was an excellent way to close the season.
