The PJL championship meet was a great day for the whole team. We started strong with Jackie running the 110 high hurdles in 22.5 placing second in her heat! It was then to the 100m dash. Sam ran a great time of 15.32 improving his previous record, likewise Mike Miller ran a quick 12.14 placing 4th in his heat, and Avi came in with a personal best of 11.49 placing 3rd in his heat and 3rd overall at the meet. The long waited Mile was next, Shai was looking to defend his title as the county champ and he did so running a 4:57 (PJL record!!!) , Or came in 3rd with 5:14 , yes we finished 1 and 3! Ethan ran a great time of 5:47 , followed by Charles running a 6:20 , Elliot with a 6:25, and Ofek ran strong with a 6:45. Following was the 400 meters. Mike L ran a fantastic time of 65.37, Mike Miller came in with a 65.37 and Avi ran strong grabbing 4th place overall at the meet with a 56.
As a team we all ran very hard, placing in many events, and running with slight injuries and pains. For the 300 Intermediate Hurdles; Jackie Baker and Mike Leshem both ran their hearts out in one last race of the season at times of 53.92 for Mike L. (4th place) and 67.0 for Jackie B. (5th place). In the 800 meter race Shai Naftali-Greer ran a 2:17 and came in 2nd place by less then a second, followed by Or Ayash at 2:24 in 5th place, Ethan Savitch (2:39), Mike Leshem (2:43), Elliot Bernstein (3:00), Charles Silverstein (3:01), and Ofek Peres (3:19). In the 200 meter Avi Lurie and Mike Miller ran some of our quickest times of the season; Avi at 25.20 (5th place) and Mike at 26.31. In the longest event at the race Shai, Or, and Ethan all ran the 3200; Shai in 1st place with a time of 11:51, Or at 12:12, and Ethan at 13:03. Just wanted to say great job team and this has been an amazing season for us and we hope you all had a great season as well!
