This past Thursday (5/2), the track team competed well in the PJL Meet at the Solebury School. Despite unseasonable temperatures, everyone put in great efforts in their events. The meet started off with Jackie Baker continuing her improvement in the 100HH, dropping her time down to 23.3 seconds. In the 100m, Avi Lurie and Mike Miller both ran will, coming in under 13 seconds. In a tactical 1600 meter race, everyone competed well and closed with fast final laps. Ethan Savitch ran a season best of 5:43 while Or Ayash an Shai Neftali-Greer placed in the top 4 with times of 5:15 and 5:23, respectively. Elliot Bernstein (6:32), Charles Silverstein (6:36), and Ofek Peres (7:10) all competed well, especially in the last lap of the race. Marnie Landau had a strong debut in the 400m, running 75 seconds, dropping 12 seconds from her time before the season! Michael Leshem also made his debut in the 800m, coming in at a solid time of 2:44. Sam Chast, in his second time trying the long jump, showed some solid improvement, increasing his jump by over a feet to jump 10'4". The team will return to Solebury this Thursday for the league championship where they hope to finish a great season on a final strong note.
