The Cougars faced another challenge on Tuesday as they took on Renassiance in what was round 2 of this matchup with the Cougars gaining the upper hand in the first leg. The Cougars jumped out to a lead just 3 minutes in as Itay Goldfarb played a superb throw in right down the line and with the quickness of Jacob Felger he was able to beat his man and strike the ball into the bottom corner on his weaker left foot. After that the Cougars went through a bit of a rough patch. A lot of play in the midfield and not much attacking. In the 28th minute Bailey Moshal was able to beat the offside trap off of a pass from Jordan Naim and fire a shot into the back of the net from an almost impossible angle. Right before the first half ended the Cougars picked up the pace and we saw two lovely finishes from Abe Wachs both coming off assists from Benjy Hirshman. To open up the second half Benjy Hirshman played an inch perfect through ball for Jacob Felger who tucked it away with another weak footed finish. To finish off the scoring Ethan Wilner latched into a perfect through ball from Zach Ufberg. Wilner saw his first shot saved but the rebound fell to him and he made no mistake. The defense played a very successful game securing a clean sheet and Benjy Hirshman and Bailey Moshal pulled all the strings in the midfield. After a successful week the Cougars will face Coventry Christian on Monday at home.
