The cross country team completed their first race of the season at Mercy's course today. This course is composed of a long, flat field that leads into a strenuous uphill section for half a mile. You then follow the arrows for a short section that passes a basketball court. A few neighborhood friends play on the court and stare at us as we run...we're entertaining. We then continued to the downhill break where we pick up speed. This loop was completed three times for the 5k. Some highlights of today's race was that Rosie Gertzman finished 6th out of the girls, a great way to start off her running career. Gosnerrr and Snapkin completed the whole race together and finished 8 seconds apart. They also enjoyed being the motivation committee and cheering as people passed. They also made friends with the competition, bonding with a girl from Villa Victoria Academy and conversing with the Kohelet team. The boys also did a great job with Michael Kalman finishing 20th, Hunter finishing 30th, and Michael Grant, Noah Beitler, and Jake Fuiman finishing 33rd, 34th, and 35th respectively. An awesome start to the season, we can only go up(hill) from here.
