WIN 12-1

Away game at Girard College Get Directions

 Reported by Jon Feld

On Thursday, the Barrack Cougars took the field against the Girard Cavaliers. With exceptional hitting by Robbie Rosen and Joel Belfer, the Cougars put up 12 runs in a 12-1 victory. The Cougars made Girard work hard for every out in the field by hitting the ball in every direction and hustling on every play. Shawn Martin and Sammy Turk-Tolub combined for 5 innings of no-hit baseball and 9 strikeouts to quell the threatening Girard offense. The Cougars were able to run up double-digit hits. Despite a shoulder injury, senior captain Jack Kolansky caught a strong game, throwing out two runners to end the inning. Unfortunately, the team received poor news regarding the health of senior captain and second baseman Alex Bierig, whose broken wrist will likely keep him off the field for the remainder of the season. Next up for Barrack is a Sunday morning match-up with Jewish rival Kohelet.
