Athletics FAQ

Q: Whom do I contact with a question or concern about the athletic program?
A: If it is a team matter (e.g., playing time), please contact the coach. All other inquiries can be made to John Bistline, Director of Athletics (, 610-922-2360) or Adam Devlin, Assistant Director of Athletics (, 610-922-2300 ext. 2450).
Q: What forms must be completed in order for my child to participate?
A: We must have four up-to-date forms on file in order to allow participation. The forms, submitted via the Magnus Health link in Barrack's Parent Portal, include:
  • Updated medical form signed by a doctor clearing them for athletic activity within one year of completion
  • Concussion form
  • Cardiac arrest form
  • Emergency contact form
Q: Can students try out for a sport they have never played?
A: Yes. We do not cut, but typically we do not allow students to sign up after the first two weeks of practice have begun.
Q: When are practices and games?
A: Practices and games for Middle School will be after school from 3:45pm–5:35pm. On occasion, Middle School teams return from games at school between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. There will be occasional Sunday games for Middle School. Check the calendar during each season. Upper School practices may be 3:45pm–5:35pm or 5:30pm–7:00pm on school days, and US teams will also practice on Sundays. Teams usually return from competition between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. All estimated return times will be delineated in the weekly emails.
Q: Can you share information about transportation for games and practices?
A: Busing is provided for students to and from all away games and practices held off campus. Parents may pick up their child from off campus practices or away games with consent from the coach. Students may drive themselves or siblings to and from gams/practices with consent from a parent. Two late buses are provided for student athletes who cannot get picked up at school. The first bus leaves Barrack between 5:45pm and 6:00pm. The second bus leaves Barrack between 7:00pm and 7:15 pm. Each bus will make the following stops:
  • Depart Barrack
  • Bryn Mawr train station
  • Plymouth Meeting Whole Foods
  • Summit Ave. at Fort Washington train station
  • Gratz/Mandell campus
  • St. Marks Church — Meetinghouse Rd. before Beverly Rd. at light
  • Klein JCC — Red Lion Rd. & Jamison Ave. (10100 Jamison Ave.)
Q: Where can I find the team practice schedule?
A: Go to the Teams and Schedules page, where you can view a calendar with all scheduled practices and games.
Q: How long are practices?
A: You can find the start and end time for a practice session by clicking on it on the Teams and Schedules page.
Q: Where is the game schedule located?
A: Games are listed on the Teams and Schedules calendar, and you can also find a list of games for each team by selecting it from the drop-down menu at the top of the Teams and Schedules page.
Q: How can I locate weekly and daily events?
A: To stay up-to-date on the latest results and upcoming events, follow us on social media.
Q: Do I need to buy a uniform or equipment?
A: All Barrack teams receive school-issued uniforms that must be returned after the season. Barrack does not provide laundry services, so students must keep their uniform in good shape. Teams are provided basic equipment, but students are encouraged to bring their own. You can also buy Barrack spirit wear HERE.
Q: Is there a return-to-play policy for concussions and injuries?
A: Yes. You can read the school's Concussion Management Protocol HERE.
