Barrack students interested in acting, theater craft and the world of drama and musicals take center stage in our school's award-winning drama program that continually captures Cappies from the Critics and Awards Program—the equivalent of the Tony Awards for high school students.
Under the direction of Head of Drama Dewey Oriente, noted actor, singer, director and faculty member, Middle School and Upper School students have the opportunity to hone their craft and explore their talents on stage and behind the scenes. They develop stage presence and work as a team to present five outstanding productions each academic year to SRO audiences.
In addition to the extracurricular drama options, the Drama Electives include 5,6,7,8, Dance! (beginner tap), Now Hear This (public speaking), and That's All Folks!; Animation in America - a multimedia analysis of the history of animation, including political cartoons. The electives will change from year to year.
The culmination of the Drama program at Barrack is our major Spring production. For our 30th annual upper school musical, we are presenting four performances of In The Heights, May 14th, 3pm, May 15th, 16th & 17th, 7:30pm. Check back for ticket availability.
