On both sides, there are two people on the cardboard. On one side there are happy faces attached to the top of the cardboard, and on the other, there are sad faces. On the moving piece of cardboard, there are printed pictures, one side has clothes that conform to the dress code and one does not. When the side with clothes that don’t conform to the dress code is showing, they are covering the bodies of the happy people. When it is flipped to the other side, the clothes that do conform to the dress code are showing, and they are covering the bodies of the sad people. The idea of this design is that when people are allowed to wear whatever they want, they’re happy, but they hate being forced to wear certain types of clothes. Because just putting on certain clothes for a few seconds does not affect one’s feelings, the observer must hold down the flap, signifying that the continuous ruling on what people are allowed to wear truly affects the people it applies to.
