Getting to Barrack

Our students come from 3 states and 90 zip codes to attend Barrack. We offer several transportation options including local school district busing, Barrack-coordinated busing, shuttles from public transportation, and parking for students. Local School District Busing

  • Pursuant to rules of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, any child living in a township within 10 miles of Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy can be transported at no charge to/from Barrack by their own school district through all grades.
  • The Philadelphia School District may offer discounts for train vouchers. Residents in grades 7 through 12 who live 1.5 miles or farther from Barrack may be eligible for discounted school fares. Get more information here.

Barrack-Coordinated Busing

  • Barrack-coordinated busing is for families outside of the 10-mile radius including:
    • Allentown
    • Bucks County
    • Center City/Cherry Hill
    • Delaware/Glenn Mills
    • Northeast/Huntingdon Valley/Abington
    • Northeast/Elkins Park
    • Mt. Airy/Germantown
    • Upper Dublin/Blue Bell/Fort Washington
  • There is also an available shuttle for Minyan on Friday mornings. See our transportation schedule here.

Shuttle Service

  • Morning and afternoon shuttle service is provided between the Bryn Mawr train station and Barrack before and after school. You can find the Paoli/Thorndale line (Bryn Mawr stop) schedule here.
    • Morning shuttles run from 7:00 am to 8:10 am and coincide with the train schedules. 
    • After-school shuttles are provided at 3:45 pm and 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 3:10 pm and 3:25 pm on Friday.
  • Barrack provides a shuttle from Adath Israel for Friday morning Minyan.

Trains and Public Transportation

  • Students can take the Norristown High Speed Line (formerly known as Route 100) and get off at the Bryn Mawr stop. It is directly next to the school. Click here for the Norristown High Speed Line schedule.
  • Students can also take the Paoli/Thorndale Line regional rail train and get off at the Bryn Mawr station, which is about 5 blocks away. We offer a shuttle service from the station to our campus both before and after school. Click here for the Paoli/Thorndale Line schedule.

Late Buses

  • Late buses are available for students participating in after-school activities except on Fridays.
  • Seats are limited. Students who will require use of the late bus must be registered.
  • Please choose one late bus option per student. Middle school activities will end by 5:45 pm.

Driving Directions

Students are permitted to drive to school or parents may drop off their students on the school grounds. Priority parking is given to upper school seniors. Please see the map below for driving directions.
