Class of 2022 Graduates!

The sun shone brightly on the evening of June 13 as family and friends gathered on Barrack's campus to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2022. After a pandemic-induced hiatus the pre-commencement dinner returned this year, and lively conversations could be heard under the buffet tents as families enjoyed one another’s company.

At the appointed time the audience took their seats on the Barrack Athletic Field, followed by members of the faculty. Then all eyes were on the members of the Class of 2022 as they filed in, sharing smiles, waves, and a few high-fives with family members as they passed.

Brandon Singer ‘22 led everyone in the national anthem and HatikvaJacob Spivack ‘22 offered a d’var Torah, and Rebecca Scheinmann ‘22 gave a commencement speech בעברית (in Hebrew) reflecting on the many times the Class of 2022 rose to meet unexpected challenges with adaptability and resilience. History Teacher Dr. Minna Ziskind and Athletic Director Johnny Bistline were honored with the dedication of the 2022 yearbook.

Amina Levites-Cohen ‘22 then gave a commencement speech encouraging students to use the skills and knowledge they have gained at Barrack to help create the world in which they want to live. Keynote speaker Chaim Bloom ‘00 inspired us breflecting on the ways that the Jewish practice of sanctifying certain moments can actually help us to be fully present in our lives.

Seniors had an immediate opportunity to put that advice to use as they were called to the stage to receive their diplomas. After the last name was called and the Class of 2022 had officially graduated, they flung their caps into the twilight, seizing the moment with joy.
