Barrack Online: College Counseling

Hello, junior and senior families!

This page serves as a centralized resource for news and helpful links related to your college admission process. Be sure to check back for the latest updates. We are working to adapt our usual protocols and programs for the evolving circumstances, and though we have to work remotely, we are here for you!

We know several of you (in both 11th and 12th grade) were planning to visit a college or two during break. Obviously that's not an option now, but many colleges have virtual tours that allow a glimpse of campus from the safety (and comfort) of home (and sweatpants?). A colleague compiled this spreadsheet with information and links to virtual tours and other online resources so you can quickly access them.

We will share additional information about resources and upcoming events, and we hope you will stay in touch!

Juniors

For those of you who have registered to take the SAT at Barrack on Tuesday, April 28, we continue to move ahead with the plan to administer the test, adhering to CDC guidelines for safe distances, etc. Of course, we ask (and expect) that if you do not feel well on the day of the exam, you stay home.

Seniors

On March 20, the College Board released information about this year's AP exams.  They will provide free online review courses starting March 25, and they are developing online AP exams (for this year only). Please visit the link for more details.

Event Alert

Save the date!

On Monday, March 30 at 7pm, Julie Chapman, Senior Assistant Director of Admission (and our admission representative) from Vanderbilt will join us in a Google Hangout Meeting for juniors that will allow you to hear, direct from a college admission officer, how admission professionals anticipate that the current conditions and uncertainties will affect your college search and application process.

After engaging with Julie (including an opportunity to ask questions), Mrs. Trajtenberg will lead a conversation about the resources we have in place now and new resources we are developing to continue supporting you from a safe distance.

Stay tuned to your email for the Google Hangouts link!
