Barrack "Gets the Ball Rolling" on Vibrant New Campus: Construction on our school's

new campus in Bryn Mawr, PA is underway and on schedule, reaching new heights and breaking new ground. The Barrack Hebrew Academy family is invited to a construction

celebration and the dedication of the new Raymond and Ellen Goldberg Tennis Center on

   Barrack JETS Team Engineering Winners: Barrack Hebrew Academy's JETS Team not only

captured first place in the Widener University JV TEAMS competition, but also captured first

place in the State of Pennsylvania's in the JV division and third place NATIONALLY. Team

members solved complicated engineering problems that combined math and science skills.

Congratulations to all team members and to advisor Kathy Saltz.

Pre-Graduation Dinner: Parents and family members of Barrack seniors are invited to a pre-

graduation dinner on Thursday, June 5, 5pm at Temple Adath Israel. Adutls: $38.00. Children

under 12, $22.00. Tables of 10 and 12 are available. Please RSVP no later than May 22 and

make checks payable to Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy.

Graduation Ceremonies: Gaduation cermonies are set for Thursday, June 5, 7:30pm at Temple

Adath Israel. Our seniors invited faculty member Barnett Kamen to be their keynote speaker.

  Rhodes Scholar: Congratulations to Ben Eidelson '04, named a 2008 Rhodes Scholar. Ben is    currently a senior at Yale University.  Congratulations Ben, we are all so proud of you!

 

New Head of School Appointment: The Board of Directors recently appointed Dr. Steven

Michael Brown as the new Head of School, effective July 1, 2008. A distinguished educator, innovator, and administrator, Dr. Brown has strong ties to the greater Philadelphia area. Dr. Brown is currently dean of the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education and director of the Melton Research Center for Jewish Education at the Jewish Theological  Seminary in New York. He was the first dean of Distance Learning at JTS, where he is also an assistant professor of Jewish education, specializing in curriculum development and instruction.

 

A graduate of the Joint Program of JTS List College and Columbia University, Dr. Brown completed a master's degree in Educational Technology and Instructional Systems and received an EdD in Curriculum Development and Teaching from Columbia University Teachers College. He received his MHL and rabbinic ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 1996.
