Dear Parents,
We would like to share our new transportation options with our parents regarding our new campus.
Please review the following bus and train options and complete the appropriate, enclosed forms so that your child(ren) will be able to participate in an option that best suits your needs.
- Pursuant to rules of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, any child who lives within ten (10) miles of Barrack Hebrew Academy can be transported at no charge to and/or from Barrack by your own school district. Philadelphia County, however, will only provide transportation through grade eight (8). For those who reside within 10 miles of Barrack, if you ever wish your child(ren) to take your district supplied transportation, you must complete the "Neighboring School District-Transportation Referral Request Form"(Pink) enclosed with this letter.
- If you live in Cherry Hill, please fill in the Salmon form. You will be transported by First Student.
- Families who would like to use the bus that will have stops in the Northeast/Huntingdon Valley/Old York Road corridor and Germantown should fill in the gold sheet provided by David Thomas Tours; there will be no charge for this new bus route for the first year.
- A free shuttle will be available from Adath Israel every morning at 7:00AM to transport
students who would like to attend minyan. Please fill out the green sheet to reserve a spot on the shuttle.
- Please fill out the green form for the shuttle if your children(ren) will take the R5 to the Bryn Mawr Station, this free shuttle will also transport students every morning starting at 7:30AM and return to the station after school. This shuttle will continue until 5:00PM.
Barrack Hebrew Academy subsidizes the independent bus transportation. The actual price to parents for transportation varies annually depending on the total number of students riding the bus. Your Board of Directors anticipates continuing the subsidy to all of the approved routes at 20% of the annual cost. To give you an example of fees, the cost per student, for the past year of 2007/2008 for Cherry Hill was $1,700.00 (Muss students pay half).
We realize that there are many factors that will ultimately affect the actual fees. The number of students on each route and the type of equipment on any of the routes that will be needed being most significant. We will notify you of the final cost as soon as we can.
We request that you complete the appropriate form enclosed with this letter and return it to Susan Rubin/receptionist, no later than August 11, 2008.
Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Steven Brown
Head of School
