  Barrack Hebrew Academy Committees

   Alumni Affairs Committee:

  • Develop and implement outreach and "friendraising" to our 2,000+ alumni in the USA, Israel and worldwide
  • Meetings: 4-6 per year

    Athletics:

  • Assist Athletics Director to promote and ensure vibrant and successful athletic programs
  • Meeting: 3-4 per year

    Capital Campaign:

  • Create and implement policies and procedures for soliciting and collecting funds for the renovations and expansion to our campus
  • Create an endowment for capital improvements and extraordinary repairs
  • Meetings: 6 per year

    Committee on Directors:

  • Educate members of the Board to the mission and philosophy of Barrack Hebrew Academy and on their duties and responsibilities
  • Orient Board members to the structure and function of the Board and committtees
  • Conduct annual evaluation of the Board and its processes, including committee effectiveness and contributions
  • Meetings: 6-8 per year

    Communications:

  • Facilitate and monitor consistent and effective communications between Barrack Hebrew Academy and the community-at-large, as well as within the Barrack Hebrew Academy community
  • Set standard procedures, formats and policies for communications i.e. website, Barrack Hebrew Academy Annual Report, school brochures, and miscellaneous marketing materials as determined
  • Develop and implement communications tactics as defined in the Marketing/PR Plan
  • Meetings: 2-4 per year

    Annual Fund:

  • Work with Director of Institutional Advancement to plan and execute the annual fund drive, annual event and other fundraising activities
  • Determine fundraising goals and strategies for the school
  • Meetings: 6 per year

    Education:

  • Serve as think tank to brainstorm issues currently facing Barrack Hebrew Academy
  • Conduct long range planning for educational program
  • Review changes and challenges in both curricular and co-curricular matters
  • Work with Head of School and make recommendations to the Board
  • Meetings: 4-8 per year

    Finance Committee:

  • Review and monitor the finances of the school
  • Submit proposed annual budget for approval by the Board
  • Oversee the implementation of the approved budget
  • Tuition recommendation to Board
  • Monitor the physical plant
  • Work with Executive Director to develop plan for management of building maintenance issues
  • Meetings: 4 per year

    Gala:

  • Plan and implement annual major fundraising event
  • Meetings: 3 per year

    Recruitment:

  • Generate ideas for recruitment
  • Identify successful outreach techniques
  • Welcome families that inquire about the school
  • Welcome incoming families of students who are accepted to the school
  • Meetings: 2-3 per year

    Home and School Association (HSA):

  • Develop and organize communication channels between school and parents
  • Coordinate grade socials to increase parent and family interaction
  • Manage outreach effort to families in time of need
  • Administer allocation of funds for faculty and student wish lists
  • Develop and coordinate educational programming
