Jewish learning, life, values and a fervent commitment to pluralism are at the heart of everything we do at Barrack Hebrew Academy. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and the school fosters an atmosphere of respect for all expressions of Judaism. Our faculty's dedication to cultivating open minds and encouraging lively discussions about Jewish teachings and practices provide a top-notch Jewish education while encouraging personalized and well developed interpretations of what it means to be Jewish.
At Barrack, a vibrant Jewish life revolves around the Jewish calendar. Our students forge strong bonds with Israel, and they practice the timeless Jewish tradition of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. Kashrut is observed in our dining commons and throughout the school.
Barrack forges strong ties with Israel and inspires an ongoing commitment to the Jewish homeland and people through the study of Israeli history and culture; the celebration and commemoration of Israeli holidays and days of remembrance; participation in rallies for Israel; the promotion of Panim el Panim leadership conferences; and a proactive Israel Club that organizes programs and activities. In 11th grade, students have the unique experience of studying for a trimester in Israel, creating a lifelong connection to Israel and the Jewish people.
Barrack Hebrew Academy agrees with the AVI CHAI Foundation: "The creation of the State of Israel is one of the seminal events in Jewish history. Recognizing the significance of the State and its national institutions, we seek to instill in our students an attachment to the Israel and its people, as well as a sense of responsibility for their welfare."
