My First Painted Pot

 By Arielle S.

Good, I finished my tenth pot. The problem is I do not know what to paint on the pots I make. My name is Amethyst, and my father and I make pots. He finishes all of the pots he makes, but while I design excellent pots, I never know what to paint on them.

One day I was trying to make a pot, but I ruined it. I got so angry about it I went to the field where everyone sees animals. I was hoping to see something and paint it on a pot. I was at the field for a couple of hours but saw nothing. I walked back to the pottery shop and started another pot, just as my father walked in and asked why I did not paint any of the pots I made. I had to lie to him, so I told him I would paint the other pots when I was finished with the one I was making. After he left the room, I wrecked the pot I was making so it will take me even longer to make the pot, and I’ll spend even less time painting my pots. When it was time to go home, I took all of my pots with me. The next morning I went to a different pottery shop to buy some pottery that looked like mine, but none of the pots that were there looked like the ones I made. So I went to the person who painted the pots and gave him five gold pieces for each pot. When I got my pots back, I snuck in the back door of the shop. I got in the workroom, I took out my paints and made a mess, so it looked like I had painted them. The part I did not know was that my father had followed me to the other pottery shop. When the day was over and I went home and went to bed, my father went back to the shop, took my pots and broke all of them. The next day I went to the shop to show my father the pots I had painted, but I saw that all of my pots were broken into pieces on the floor. I did not know what had happened to them.

A couple of days after the pots broke, I decided to make new ones just like them. When I finished making all of the pots, I went back to the field I was at before. I was there for a couple of hours and still saw nothing. The next day I went to the shop to paint the pots I made, but I still did not know what to paint on them. The next day I went back to the field with my friend Aglaia to eat lunch and talk. We were talking about if Nero was a good ruler and if someone will kill him like they did to the other emperors before him. We ended up staying there for dinner. When I went to the pottery shop the next day, I started painting a picture of the view I saw when I was at the field.

A couple of weeks later I was walking along a river and I tripped and fell on a rock and landed in the water. When I was getting out, I saw a deer standing on the other side eating. Later during dinner, I thought I must have been dreaming when I saw the deer. However the next day when I was walking to work I saw the deer again. This time I was sure I saw it, so I ran to the shop and started painting the deer on a pot. After I finished I always knew what to paint on the pots I made.
