The MS Cougars had a very evenly matched game on Thursday in the first half against the Academy in Manyunk. We played some of our best soccer of the year going into halftime with a 2-1 lead. In that half, goalie Simon Gordon had a beautiful diving save that stuffed a shot from point blank range to go along with a couple other great saves to keep the Cougars on top. Also in the half was Noah Maltzman's goal that chipped the goalie to make it 1-0. Then, to make it 2-1 Josh Berkowitz had a great left-footed shot to put us on top before the half. In the second half, AIM pulled away scoring 3 goals to make it 4-2. Although 4 goals were scored Yazi Stein, Noah Stein, Jake Prusky, Johny Cohen and Ruthie Davis all played well in the back although it was a new formation for most of them (4-3-3). When it was needed, Lev Cohen came back to defense and played very well. In the mid-field, Lev Cohen, Noah Maltzman, Mattan Manstein, Julia Nahmani and Michael Warshowsky contributed to the well fought mach. And up top, Josh Zivik, Josh Berkowitz and Harrison Sorman all used all their efforts to try to get the ball in the back of the net. The Final score was 4-2. The MS Cougars keep their heads up and try to come out with a "W" on Monday.
