Using small group instruction, Barrack Hebrew Academy's Resource team provides a supportive learning environment for those students who want and need learning support beyond the classroom. Instruction provided varies according to the needs of the individual student. Instruction may include study skills, organizational skills, as well as general curriculum support. The ultimate goal is to have each student develop skills and strategies that will enable him or her to become an independent learner.
Resource teachers work closely with faculty, administration, parents and community professionals on a regular basis. At the beginning of the school year or at the time of entry into the program, a student support memo is developed and shared with each student's support team member. This enables the Resource teachers to determine appropriate expectations and monitor a student's progress on a regular basis. Students generally are assigned two periods per cycle and they may participate in Resource support for both general and Jewish studies.
Our Resource staff is responsible for coordinating the needs of those students who receive extended time for both standardized and non-standardized tests. A limited number of students participate in a somewhat modified program in subjects which are heterogeneously grouped.
