Science

Curiosity! Questions! Observations! Experimentation! Discovery!

These are all key components that create a foundation of excellence in Barrack Hebrew Academy's Middle School science curriculum that integrates math, technology, and ideas based in history and Jewish ethics into scientific inquiry.

All Middle School students focus on inquiry and develop a foundation for further advanced study in the sciences. Sixth graders focus on Earth Science; 7th graders on Life Sciences; and 8th graders on Physical Science.

No matter their grade, however, all Barrack students are motivated to view science as a struggle among ideas. Our goal is to challenge our students with problem-solving projects and activities. Barrack students are motivated to expand their critical and creative thinking skills by understanding the process of science. Our students actively engage in field work and use up-to-date laboratory methodologies that help them explore the phenomena of the world around them. They conduct water and soil experiments on campus, design rockets and design buildings that need to withstand earthquakes. Our final objective is to educate our students to be scientifically- literate citizens of the world.

The students also have the opportunity to explore club activities that enrich their curiosity about the sciences. Middle School students are encouraged to join the Engineering Club, Environmental Action Club, Future Doctors of America and the Science Olympiad.
