II. Answer the following:

a. How did Ha'am understand "historical truth'?

b. In the essay Ha'am states, "I care not whether this man Moses really existed; whether his life and his activity really corresponded to our traditional account of him; whether he was really the savior of Israel and gave his people the Law in the form in which it is preserved among us; and so forth."

Explain this quotation.

c. What has been "the influence of Moses on our national life"?

d. What does Ha'am mean by "an ideal" when referring to a person?

e. Do you agree or disagree with Ha'am's ideas? Why or why not?
