The class is currently learning the practical how-to's of Hanukah (candle lighting, brachot, customs, etc.).   There will be a quiz on this material on Thurs., 12/11.

    7C JEWISH STUDIES

The class has been learning about the Mishnah, its origins and applications to daily society.   We have focused on a particular Mishnah dealing with the ben sorerer umoreh/the stubborn and rebellious son.  How the rabbis dealt with a Biblical passage referring to the punishment for such a child is what the class has been learning.  We have seen how the rabbis have interpreted the text in such a way as to make it most difficult for the child to be punished according to the Biblical injunction of stoning.  Through quizzes and class work, the sudents have been assessed on the above material.
